Untold Steps brings together revival Lancashire clog dancing, heritage industrial machinery and field recordings in a four speaker surround sound set up originally installed in a pedestrian underpass in Milnrow, Rochdale. Commissioned as part of Northern Lands Public Art Trail produced and funded by Culture Co-op in partnership with Ebor Studio.[audience controlled granular dub] https://linktr.ee/thunkist
Thunkist (aka Simon East) makes surround sound music that is audience controlled. Digital wands are handed out to the audience, where these can then be passed around. With the wands, the audience can trigger sounds and move them around the surround sound space in 3D. The audience thus become part of creating a unique live performance. As well as synthesised sounds, Thunkist incorporates site-specific field recordings, speech and singing into each live piece, and renders the result with fully spatialised granular, reverb, and dub effects. His aim is to create one-off immersive live performances that audiences play a real part in co-creating. Previous live performances are available to listen to on Bandcamp or watch on YouTube.[multi-channel noise] https://blackgalaxie.bandcamp.com/music
